The National Post, December 2, 2006 wrote “We admit it: This has absolutely, categorically no literary value whatsoever. But just set in on the coffee table and watch the party get rolling.” 10 handcrafted, ingeniously paper engineered pop-up parodies of celebrity’s meltdowns are brought to life with outrageously humorous caricatures.

“Everything about the book was to play off of our love of tabloid journalism.” says Charles Melcher, Melcher Media, (publisher) speaking to CNN.

“The book has a scandal-sheet feel that’s rude and crude.” says Lana Berkowitz of the Houston Chronicle. Featured Celebrity Meltdowns include: JANET JACKSON “Booby Trap!”, TOM CRUISE “Top Gun Nose Dives!”, RUSSELL CROWE “Dead Ringer!”, KATE MOSS “Supermodel Blows It!”, WINONA RYDER “Winona Scissorhands!”, HUGH GRANT “Divine Intervention!”, MICHAEL JACKSON “Hang In There, Baby!”, MIKE TYSON “From Champ To Chomp!”, O. J. SIMPSON “Wild Juice Chase!”, PARIS HILTON “One Night In Paris!”

“Each of the depictions comes with a pithy recap of the mad moments involved.” says Brad Wheeler of the Globe and Mail. Writer Heather Havrilesky, the TV critic for Salon.com, contributed the text.

Jeanne Moos of CNN comments “Celebs like baby dangler, Michael Jackson, may be embarrased by their meltdowns, but the Pop-Ups are engineered with pride.” The one unusual challenge in the process of creating the illustrations for the pop-up book was to fit the illustrations to the pop-up engineering by Bruce Foster, making the exaggerated, but realistically rendered celebrities move in a somewhat realistic, but comic fashion when “Popped”. Mick Coulas said “The Pop-Up Book of Celebrity Meltdowns took our illustration studio 5 months to complete. Perhaps I am the slowest paparazzi in the world.”

November 3, 2006 - New York Post, Page Six, by Richard Johnson, with Paula Froelich and Bill Hoffman-- Pervy Pop-Ups: "THE Pop-Up Book of Celebrity Meltdowns" cleverly re-creates the stars' most embarrassing scandals in 3-D - but don't expect to see it on "Today" or "Good Morning America." The tome, in stores next week, was deemed too racy for depictions of Paris Hilton making her porn video, Hugh Grant getting serviced by hooker Divine Brown, and Janet Jackson baring her boob. A flack for publisher Melcher added that "Access Hollywood" axed a piece on the book "to preserve its relationship with Tom Cruise and Michael Jackson," who are shown couch jumping and baby dangling, respectively.
